OBEY THE POODLE!

I guess it is time to put my crochet down. Jubal-iscious has decided to make me pay him some attention by sitting on my piece.

THERAPUTIC STITCHERY (starting a new piece for fun and relaxation!)

Before, during and even after the holidays, I was involved in very functional items...most were gifts: scarves, hats, bags, afghans, etc. One of my resolutions for 2009 was to "finish up loose ends"... figuratively, as in straightening out some personal issues... but also literally, as in finishing up some hibernating fiber projects.

I got a good many of the fiber projects finished; and so I decided to to start a strictly non-functional freeform project. For me, it is so enjoyable not knowing how a project is going to end up! I can just add on what and where I feel like. It is a very relaxing... almost meditative quality, for me, in just mixing up colors, stitches and types of yarns ...i get so in the zone that i have been told my mantra should be "loop...loop... stitch." (are they making fun of me?)

Here are pics of the new piece, a Day of the Dead inspired piece. I love all of the bright colors associated with the festival; and I love the appreciation of ancestors ... and really the appreciation of life and its cycle. So far, this has been a fun piece to work on!

SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE TACO TRUCK

What a beautiful Saturday we had here in the Upstate! The sun was out; and the temperature was very comfortable.

Sugar Daddy and I had a great lunch (at Saffron... of course!); and after we picked up the Barbarian after work, we stopped by the taco truck on Cedar Lane Road. There we saw another sign of good weather: people were staying and eating there...lately people (us included) have been ordering the food and either eating in the car or taking it home. It was nice to see people out and enjoying the day!

SHAGGY JUBAL GETS A HAIRCUT

It's been so chilly here in the Upstate, that I had Jubal skip a groomer appointment. And as a result, he was looking mighty shaggy!

Earlier this week, I had gotten a call from the vet office telling me that they had a new groomer...i didn't ask what happened to the previous one... but I was kinda bummed out... i hate 'breaking in' new groomers... lol

But I have to admit, she did a really good job! His face and feet were done exactly right... she did his toenails and brushed his teeth.

And then I saw his tail... oh no! I am sure it is my fault... I don't think I mentioned how I wanted his tail. We talked about keeping his ears and topknot short because he likes to run with the goats when we are in Georgia. Replaying the conversation, and I can't remember mentioning his tail... we leave the whole thing bushy...usually that is! lol

Oh well...it will grow back! It's not too bad... but you can bet that I will remember to mention the tail next time!

YO-C THROW UPDATE... i am done with my part! woo hoo

Here are the completed rows for the YO-C group's collaborative project.

I put together rows 1 & 2, 4, and 6 &7.

I really enjoyed working with everybody's handiwork. All of the squares were so neat! I certainly hope I did everyone's squares justice!

FO ALERT: ANOTHER BERET (a birthday present for my sis)

My sis has been wearing hats lately... so after I finished the beret for my cousin, I thought I would make one for my sister's birthday gift. Only problem is i forgot my pattern for it at our little place in Georgia. And I was having "wireless router" issues preventing me from getting online to look for it.

soooooooooo... i pieced together my own design. What do you think of it?

I used a size J hook and Hobby Lobby acrylic yarn (for ease of care). It is all done in dc, 2dc together, and hdc stitches.

(is there a name for the 2 dcs stitched together?)

I sure hope she likes it!

Happy Birthday, Sis!
(Don't worry, I won't tell your age... although I will say that you are younger than me!)
LOL

HMMMM... IF ANTHONY BOURDAIN CAME TO GREENVILLE...

Today while reading a few blogs on WYFF's Sound off South Site (which this little blog is included on!), I found this blog post which posed the question of where you would take Anthony Bourdain if he were shooting his show in Greenville.

I found this idea intriguing... I love food... good food, that is!

(Since moving here a few years ago, I have found that there are alot of restaurants in Greenville... but not too many that I am fond of! no offense intended!)

I have 2 ideas:

#1. Focusing on the Diversity of Greenville's Foodscene (pick & choose)
a. the taco truck (Mexican) on Cedar Lane Road (only Fri, Sat & Sun nights)
b. Saffron (Indian) @ intersection of Woodruff Road & Miller Road
c. Korean BBQ (Korean) @ intersection of Woodruff Road & Miller Road also
d. Saigon Fast Food (Vietnamese) on Pleasantburg Road
e. Pita House (Middle Eastern\Lebanese) on Pleasantburg Road
f. Zamorah's (Southern\Soul\Meat &3) on Whitehorse Road
g. El Carretero (Colombian) on Laurens Road
h. Cositas Ricas (Colombian) on West Parker Road
i. Pomegranate On Main (Persian) on Main Street
j. Thai Restaurant (Thai) on Augusta Road

#2. "Greenville" spots
a. Tanners Big Orange (serving Greenville over 70 years)
b. Charlie's Steakhouse (serving Greenville over 80 years)
c. Handlebar (unique Greenville eatery)
d. Soby's (unique Greenville eatery)
e. brief overview Greenville's Main Street (restaurants & events)

so that is what I would suggest if Anthony Bourdain were to ask me where to go in Greenville!

Breakfast for Supper!

Sometimes we like to 'switch it up' and have breakfast foods for supper.

Here is tonight's offering: sausage, portabello mushroom breakfast casserolle, roasted asparagus, tomatoes & onions in olive oil & rice vinegar
followed by baked stuffed french toast & clementine slices

Sweet Jubal (posting from my phone)

While cleaning out my camera phone's memory, I found these unposted pics of Sweet Jubal ... and so thought that I should post them! lol

I just love this little doggie!
